A platform created by Opentech and customized for the needs of its customers, which protects the confidentiality and anonymity of the whistleblower and the contents of the report.

Openwhistle is the solution proposed by Opentech to take advantage of a customized platform capable of receiving and managing whistleblowing reports.

I benefits of this service are:

  • the protection of confidentiality, i.e. the identity of the reporting party, the persons reported and the contents. In the event that the whistleblower reveals the identity and his personal data, these will be kept separately from the content of the report for his greater protection.
  • a simplified iter of the platform through which the recipient manages the reports and monitors the progress of the investigation.
  • secure data management using end-to-end encryption tools to guarantee the confidentiality of the content of reports: the software Globalleaks and Pretty Good Privacy, the most used crypto system in the world. Furthermore, the data is not stored for a long time on the platform, but deleted as soon as possible following a strict policy data retention.

Also the platform, has some interesting features:

  • the personalization of the home page, which - already very intuitive in its use - can be enriched with links and buttons to websites, documents or video files to motivate potential whistleblowers to make reports of incorrect behavior.
  • the configuration of the platform in different languages, with the possibility for the reporter to choose his own.
  • simplicity in sending reports by filling out a form, the main feature of which is flexibility. It is therefore possible to structure a questionnaire consisting of open, closed, multiple choice and conditional answer questions.
  • the "multi-company" management of reports. The platform allows you to set the sending of the report to the companies of a Group and to various receiving offices, each of which can manage their reports separately.

The reporting process is simple and very straightforward.

In the first phase, the whistleblower fills out a form, entering the information on the report and adding any attachments.
The system releases a 16-digit code, with which the whistleblower can again access the platform and answer any questions or add further elements.
To protect the whistleblower, no communication takes place to his e-mail address.

In the second phase of reporting management, the office in charge displays the receipt of an email on the platform screen, which notifies the arrival of an anonymous report (unless the reporting party has also decided to enter their data).
Furthermore, it is possible to view in the platform the list of all reports received, sorted by date and time. With a click you can access their content.

Finally, once the report has been displayed, the employee of the office in charge has the opportunity to ask questions or ask the whistleblower for more information, who can respond by accessing the platform periodically with his access code.
